A sink is only as good as its fit. Here is what happens during installation so you know what to expect and what to ask your fitter.
Three ways to mount
- Top-mount (drop-in) — the rim sits on the countertop. Works with almost any surface and is the simplest, most forgiving fit.
- Undermount — fixed below the counter for a clean, wipe-straight-in edge. Best on stone, quartz or solid surfaces.
- Flush-fit — the sink sits level with the top for a seamless line; the most precise (and skilled) fit.
The cutout
Your fitter marks the opening using the sink’s template or overall dimensions, leaving enough countertop around the edge for strength. Measure twice — the cut is permanent. This is why the overall size on your product sticker matters.
Sealing
A continuous bead of good-quality silicone seals the sink to the counter and keeps water out of the cabinet. Let it cure before running water.
Waste & plumbing
Fit the waste coupling with its washers, connect the bottle trap, and check every joint for drips before you finish. Give the sound-dampening pads a moment — they also reduce pipe noise.
Comfortable with basic plumbing and a level? A top-mount is a confident DIY. For undermount or flush-fit on stone, use an experienced fitter.
After install, scan the QR sticker to register your warranty — do it before the sticker is thrown away with the packaging.
